Bloomington’s Night Moves strip club will remain in its current location for three years under an agreement with the city. The city is purchasing the property as part of its plans for Switchyard Park.
Bloomington City Controller Jeffery Underwood says the city will pay $800,000 for the property on South Walnut Street, which sits near the future entrance to Switchyard Park.
"People moving into communities now kind of look at an area where they can live, work, and play," Underwood says.
The city hopes to see the area surrounding the park redeveloped and Night Moves doesn’t fit into that vision.
"This is one that is unique," Underwood says. "It's a sexually oriented business."
Night Moves Owner Rodney Doomer currently rents the property. He says he’s looking for a new location to move to after his current lease expires in three years.
"Night Moves has been in this town since 92 or 93," Doomer says. "And I don’t see any reason why we wouldn’t keep going."
The city previously purchased the former site of Wee Willie’s restaurant on Walnut Street to serve as the entrance to Switchyard Park.
