Indiana Law Already Permits Teachers To Carry Guns, Though Few Do

    In the wake of the Newtown, Conn., school shooting, some legislators say they’ll introduce bills to let teachers carry weapons. But Indiana law likely already allows it, experts say. From the Journal & Courier:

    Lawmakers in at least five states have proposed arming teachers so they can defend students in the wake of last week’s shootings in Newtown, Conn.

    Republican state Sen. Jim Tomes said Thursday that he had planned to introduce similar legislation in Indiana, but then he learned that state law already permits teachers to carry guns in some situations.
