Two proposed dropout recovery charter schools in Gary withdrew their applications in advance of a meeting of the Indiana Charter Board Monday. Critics say the city’s existing charter schools are already putting a strain on the public education system. The two proposed schools could apply again as soon as July for consideration in October.
