Morning Bell: What They’re Saying About Gov. Mitch Daniels & Purdue’s Top Job

Indy Star – Purdue’s pick “has been hailed by many as a coup for the university for [Daniels’] skill in fundraising and leadership. It is, however, also raising questions about whether he has the academic qualifications.”
—Otto Boehring, Purdue professor
Indiana Barrister – “It is no big secret that Indiana’s colleges and universities have had to live within their means since Daniels took office.”
Advance Indiana – “This should finally remove any doubts about whether Daniels would be willing to be Mitt Romney’s running mate.”
Masson – “I think Gov. Daniels role will be to raise piles of money like Jischke. And, with his connections, he’ll likely be good at it.”
Indy Democrat – “It’s quite a quizzical choice for a man who’s done so much to tear down our state’s public universities and institutions… But, bully for Purdue. Congratulations to the Governor.”
