Indy Star: Eugene White Says He's Staying Put

    Here’s an update from our earlier heads-up: Indianapolis Public Schools superintendent Eugene White tells Scott Elliott at the Indy Star that he’s not applying for an open superintendent job in Columbus, Ga., near where he grew up and where his family still lives.

    “‘Right now, I’d have to say I’m ruling the whole thing out,’ White [told the Star]. ‘They have their candidates and I didn’t apply.’

    Earlier this year, White was a finalist for jobs in Mobile, Ala., and Greenville, S.C., but when he didn’t get either job said he would remain in Indianapolis and not seek other jobs. When applying in Mobile and Greenville, he initially said he was interested in finishing his career in the Southeast to be close to family.”
