WFIU Jazz Host Joe Bourne

Joe Bourne in glasses, blue and white short-sleeved shirt

I can’t tell you the number of times people have told me over the years that they never listened to jazz until they tuned in to my program.

Joe Bourne was born in 1946 and grew up in Charlestown, Indiana. He graduated from Our Lady of Providence High School in 1964, Bellarmine College in 1969, and went on to serve in the United States Air Force for two years.

After working for a few years as a rock ’n’ roll DJ, he came to WFIU in December of 1984, where he took over the afternoon jazz shift and rechristened it Just You and Me, a show that through the years proved to be one of WFIU’s most popular programs. He also did movie reviews and hosted the Friday-evening show The Big Bands.
