Former Senator Richard Lugar

Former US Senator Richard Lugar (Lauren Chapman, IPB News)

On this episode of Profiles we feature two encore interviews with Richard Lugar, former United States Senator from Indiana. He died this week at the age of 87.

Lugar dominated Indiana politics during his 36 years in the U.S. Senate, where he became a sage of foreign policy, and also distinguished himself through his commitment to bipartisanship.

First, we’ll hear a conversation with Richard Lugar and former Indiana Congressman Lee Hamilton, recorded in front of a live audience at the University of Southern Indiana in 2016. The topic of the conversation was Civility in American Politics, and it was moderated by the former president of the University of Southern Indiana, Linda Bennett.

Second, we feature a conversation with Radio-TV Executive Director, Perry Metz, in an interview recorded in 2009.
