Cellist Matt Haimovitz

Musical maverick Matt Haimovitz is a classically trained cellist who is known for bringing classical music to the people. The 35-year-old musician plays in bars, coffeehouses, and in punk rock clubs (such as New York's notorious CBGBs) throughout the country.

He is perhaps best known for his cello arrangement of Jimi Hendrix's electric guitar take on "The Star-Spangled Banner." His goal is to use music to bring people together, giving listeners a fresh appreciation of old music, while championing the work of contemporary composers.
