IU Press Director Gary Dunham

Gary Dunham in blue open-necked dress shirt and dark jacket

There’s an easy transition between telling the story as an archeologist to being an editor . . . .  It’s very much the same of being able to allow the past to speak again. Gary Dunham

Before coming to IU, Gary Dunham served as director of publications for the 173,000-member American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. There, he co-developed and co-directed a book publishing program, oversaw a sweeping update of scholarly journals and online publications, and redesigned the association’s news magazine.

Dunham was executive director of State University of New York Press and director of University of Nebraska Press. He has taught at the University of Nebraska and the University of Virginia, and has a doctorate in archeology from UVA.
