Composer Caroline Shaw

Suddenly I'm this person that people look up to. . . . And it really hit me that suddenly I have a huge responsibility to be a role model for some of these young people.

Caroline Shaw is a composer whose works have been performed by Roomful of Teeth, So Percussion, ACME, the Brentano Quartet, the Knights, and others.

At 30, she became the youngest recipient of the Pulitzer Prize for Music for her composition Partita for 8 Voices, an a cappella work that uses speech, whispers, sighs, murmurs, wordless melodies, and novel vocal effects.

She performs as violinist with the American Contemporary Music Ensemble and as vocalist with Roomful of Teeth.
