Noon Edition

Choral Conductor Gerald Sousa

The greater the music, the more the performers strive to make it happen. . . . The truly great masterworks offer so much of depth and breadth that the chorus wants to explore more on their own, outside of rehearsals. They become as infatuated as I do each time I uncover a new piece.

Gerald Sousa is music director at St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Bloomington. He has held positions at the University of New Orleans, Dartmouth College, and the University of North Carolina, and has performed at the Aspen Summer Music Festival.

Sousa has served on the boards of local arts organizations, including the former Bloomington Area Arts Council, which he led as president for five years.
