Outburst As Laurie Strode

“…I dream inside / a jewelcasket, misted in microcrystalline.” –from “sensorium” (rioreason)

"Horror movies also became a central vehicle for exploring beauty and the grotesque, particularly through the personas of horror movie heroines such as Heather Donahue, Carrie White, Laurie Strode, and Rosemary Woodhouse. I chose these films (many from the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s) for the prettiness of the horror, the style and glamour of the women in danger. The horror movie heroine, in peril and in polyester, became an emblem for me, for the body I am trying to communicate, as both vulnerable and resilient."
