Monroe County Jail Population Cap

Some argue that there are too many people in the Monroe County jail and it is creating inhumane conditions. This week, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office recommended a one-year extension to the cap on the jail population and are waiting on approval from a federal judge. The jail has 248 beds and the cap is set at 278 people.

Some people support the construction of a new jail, while others support an expansion of the existing one. Join the conversation this Friday on Noon Edition on WFIU.
