Local Food In Indiana

This week marked the first Thanksgiving Hoosiers could buy ingredients at their grocery store labeled “Indiana Grown,” a state marketing initiative created earlier this year to encourage sales of locally produced food.

Of the $16 billion of food sold in Indiana every year, officials say just 10% is grown within the state.

This week on Noon Edition we spoke with three guests about the local food industry.

Our guests:

  • David King, Indiana Grown project manager
  • Marcia Veldman, Bloomington Farmer’s Market Coordinator
  • Amanda Nickey, CEO of Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard

Noon Edition airs every Friday at 12 p.m.

Note: This episode was pre-recorded, so we won’t be able to accept phone calls or online questions during the show.
