Homeless Support Programs

Homeless man sleeps on a bench.

Many shelters and organizations are eager to reduce homelessness but have difficulty finding the right approach. Low-barrier programs like the one the Shalom Center recently opened in Bloomington provide assistance by removing as many requirements as possible.

But some think that this strategy may do more harm than good.

This week on Noon Edition, we’ll talk with representatives from community centers and the Indiana Housing Community and Development Authority to see what impact different homeless support programs have on Hoosiers and their communities.

You can join us for a live chat at WFIU.ORG/NoonEdition, follow us on Twitter at Noon Edition or call into the program at 812-855-0811.

Noon Edition airs Friday at 12 p.m.
