Developments In Alzheimer's Care And Research

brain

Researchers and drug companies are making progress on preventing and treating Alzheimer's disease.

In just the past month, Indianapolis-based Eli Lilly announced one of its drugs has successfully targeted a sticky protein linked to Alzheimer's, reducing the disease's progression by 34 percent. Researchers from Indiana University have also found evidence that the disease might be treatable when people are younger than scientists previously thought.

This week on Noon Edition, we'll speak with experts from around the region about new developments in Alzheimer's care and research.

Our guests:

  • Kelly Litster, Program Specialist with the Alzheimer's Association Greater Indiana Chapter.
  • Lauren Lay, Development Specialist with the Alzheimer's Association Greater Indiana Chapter.
  • Dr. Shannon Risacher, Assistant Research Professor with the Indiana University School of Medicine Alzheimer's Disease Center.
  • Phyllis Ferrell, Global Brand Development Leader, Eli Lilly Global Alzheimer's Disease Platform Team.
