Asian Carp Threaten To Invade Lake Monroe

asian carp

Asian carp are wreaking havoc on rivers across Indiana – most recently in Monroe County.

The invasive species has been detected in Salt Creek, sparking fears that the fish will make their way into nearby Lake Monroe.

The Department of Natural Resources is alerting fishermen to try and prevent that from happening.

This week on Noon Edition we spoke with experts about the problem.

Our guests:

  • Dave Kittaka, State Department of Fish & Wildlife Biologist
  • Andy Bueltmann, Assistant Southern Fish Research Biologist
  • Eric D. Fischer, Aquatic Invasive Species Coordinator, Indiana DNR
  • Reuben Goforth, Associate Professor of Aquatic Ecology at Purdue University

Noon Edition airs every Friday at 12 p.m.
