Vandals struck Sunday at the state Department of Transportation I-69 project office on Bloomington’s west side.
INDOT spokesman Gary Abell says vandals attempted to break glass windows and a door, but says the glass was reinforced to resist such attacks. Abell says they also defaced the front of the Tier Four project office.
Local project manager Bruce Hudson says he was shocked by the attack. Hudson says the fact that the devices seemed to involve a fuse represents an increase in the level of vandalism directed against the project.
Abell says the vandals attempted to disabled a security camera by spray painting it. A second camera recorded images, but sheriff’s investigators say they may be too dark to successfully identify a suspect or suspects.
