The potential of ten to sixteen inches of blowing snow has prompted weather officials to issue a blizzard warning for several counties in northern Indiana tonight.
The winter storm warning is still in effect for most of south central Indiana. Snow totals are predicted to reach six to twelve inches in areas from Terre Haute to Muncie. Further south in Bloomington, snowfall totals should be less than six inches.
A winter weather advisory remains in effect for southeastern Indiana for a possible one to three inches of snow. But wind chill temperatures of 40 below zero are possible for most of the state through Tuesday evening.
Local storm reports state the Indy International Airport reporting 11.1 inches of snow, Greencastle reporting 11.6 inches, Greenwood 9.5 inches and Waverly reporting 7.8 inches of snow.
Duke Energy is reporting 9,300 residents are without power... the most outages in Vigo, Knox and Monroe Counties.

Officials have prohibited travel to emergency vehicles only in several counties including Johnson, Morgan, Vigo and Putnam. Brown and Monroe Counties are under a travel watch, meaning essential travel only. County travel status from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security is here.
Recent snowfall reports come from the Indy International Airport with 10.5 inches, Gosport 9.5 inches, Cloverdale 10 inches and Terre Haute reports 10 inches of snow.

UPDATE 4:30 P.M.
National Weather Service officials have downgraded the winter storm warning to an advisory for southeastern Indiana including Bedford, Paoli, Seymour and Columbus. Snow will taper off this evening leaving totals of less than five inches.
Snowfall totals in the warning area may still exceed six inches with some areas receiving over 12 inches. This past hour, 8 inches of snow has been recorded in Indianapolis, 6.5 inches in Brooklyn, 11 inches in Bainbridge, 7.5 in Terre Haute and 10 inches in Danville.
The wind chill warning remains in effect until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.

UPDATE 1:30 P.M.
Weather forecasters at the National Weather Service are still predicting five to seven inches of snow by tonight along with some rain, sleet and possibly freezing rain for south central Indiana. Higher amounts of seven to fourteen inches of snow are expected further north near Terre Haute, Indianapolis and Muncie.
The winter storm warning remains in effect until 1:00 a.m. Monday along with a wind chill warning until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday due to the combination of 40 MPH wind gusts and bitter cold temperatures. Wind chill values could drop to 40 below zero at times.
