Tuberculosis Case Diagnosed In Kokomo

A Kokomo woman has been diagnosed with tuberculosis. The Howard County Health Department says the woman was at the OP Nail and Spa Salon, so anyone who has visited the salon since late September could be at risk.

The Department‘s Nursing Coordinator, Kathy Oldaker says the salon does not keep track of clients, so there is no list or any contact information so that we could alert those clients to be tested for TB.

The danger has passed but not for those who may have been exposed earlier. The exposure time for TB is three months from the onset of symptoms. Oldaker says that is why it puts us back to September 28 through February 22. Tuberculosis is a potentially serious infectious disease that primarily affects the lungs.
