Suspects Charged In Home Explosion Due In Court

House adjourns for remainder of week

The three suspects charged in the Indianapolis neighborhood explosion are expected to appear in court this morning.

Attorneys Ralph Staples and Jeff Mendes say there is still plenty of work to be done in the case. Staples says there is no real “smoking gun” when it comes to the suspects.

He says what they‘re trying to do is paint a picture of guilt whereas there is no one person saying, ‘I did it,‘ or one person saying, ‘I saw him do it or her do it.’

Staples says they‘re looking for a circumstantial link between all these events in order to convince someone that these are the people responsible.

Mendes says the defense will have a lot of work to do in terms of deposing experts involved in the case. He adds that he doesn‘t think Prosecutor Terry Curry will seek the death penalty due to the amount of time it takes and the cost to the city.
