The Indiana State Deaprtment of Health reported 53 more deaths from the coronavirus. The number of infections increased by 676. The state's total number of confirmed cases is 19,295.

Indiana's confirmed COVID-19 death toll is now 1,115.

The number of probable deaths in the state increased by one. In total, ISDH is now reporting 114 probable deaths, which it classifies as "those for which a physician listed COVID-19 as a contributing cause based on X-rays, scans and other clinical symptoms but for which no positive test is on record."

There have been four additional cases reported in Monroe County, which brings the county's reported number of cases to 130. No additional COVID-19 deaths have been reported since yesterday. The number still stands at eight. 1,286 people have been tested in Monroe County.

ISDH says it has tested 104,141 people across the state, up from 99,639 on Friday. That number includes tests run by the state, the Centers For Disease Control And Prevention, and some private laboratories. Of the total number tests 18.5% have come back positive. ISDH says the "number of tests is provisional and reflects only those reported to ISDH. Numbers should not be characterized as a comprehensive total."

Saturday's ISDH numbers show that 16.6% of the state's 2,929 existing intensive care unit (ICU) beds are currently being used by patients with COVID-19-related illnesses, while 42.4% are still available.

And as of noon Saturday, 8% of the state's 3,069 total ventilators are being used by COVID-19 patients, while 80.5% are still available.

Governor Holomb announced a plan Friday to begin lifting the stay-at-home order in most counties starting Monday.

Holcomb says he knows there will be an increase in COVID-19 cases, but Hoosiers couldn’t wait for a vaccine to reopen.

The state’s timeline would lift all restrictions by July 4. But that could be extended.

The four main categories the state is looking at when deciding if and how to pull back reopening focus less on the numbers of cases and deaths, and more on hospital capacity and testing for the virus.

Meanwhile, the Monroe County Public Health Department, Bloomington Mayor John Hamilton, the Monroe County Board of Commissioners and the Town of Ellettsville issued an order Friday evening extending the current stay-at-home guidelines for Monroe County. It will be in effect through May 15 at 11:59 p.m.
