Senior Expo Finds New Home This Year

The annual Bloomington Senior Expo found a new home this year. The event was held at the Twin Lakes Recreation Center on Bloomington’s west side, a way to showcase the facility purchased by the city last year. It was sponsored by the City Parks and Recreation Department with Bloomington Hospital.

Mary Lou Cotrill was one of many who took part in all the fair had to offer. “This is great, you get all kinds of freebies and get free hearing tests, blood pressure checks, so far I’m just going down this side. It’s just wonderful.”

Elvis made an appearance thanks to the theme, 50s fun and fitness. Around 15-hundred area residents found out how to live a healthy active life style no matter what their age.

“It’s the whole gamment of activities,” said Community Relations Manager Julie Ramey. “There’s free health screenings which is really a big component of senior expo, there’s a huge expo fall exhibit with exhibitors of products and services just for seniors and their families. There are fitness demonstrations, cooking demonstrations, there is a fashion show which is always a highlight at Senior Expo and Area 10 Agency on Aging is here with some senior game demonstrations.”
