Robbery Suspect Apprehended, Charged

Bloomington police have arrested a suspect in connection with several robberies in the area. Captain Joe Qualters says Marianne L. Owens, 26, was arrested just after 1 a.m. Tuesday morning after she attempted to rob the Village Pantry on West Third and Patterson Streets. Qualters says Owens blamed a drug debt on a string of robberies around Bloomington.

Owens has been charged with three counts of robbery, and one count each of attempted robbery, resisting law enforcement, and false reporting. Qualters says Owens initially denied having an accomplice and a weapon during the robberies, but police are still investigating if that’s true. He says tips from residents around the area were instrumental in providing important information to police.
