An organization called “On My Honor” is staging rallies Friday in support of the Boy Scouts of America ban on gay members and leaders.
There will be rallies in 40 locations across the country, including one in Kokomo and another in Fort Wayne.
The coalition of parents, scout leaders, donors and Eagle Scouts oppose the compromise being considered by the National Boy Scout Council to allow openly gay Scouts while keeping the ban in place for scout leaders.
A Boy Scout backer from Kokomo, Jeff Britton, says homosexuality is immoral and goes against the Boy Scouts principles.
“There are standards put down and laid down for the foundation of the Boy Scouts based on Christian principles of morality as you can definitely see in the Boy Scout oath,” he says.
Britton also predicts an exodus of members if the resolution is adopted, pointing to the loss of membership experienced by the Girl Scouts after that organization opened its membership to lesbians.
