PHOTOS: IU Club Hockey Team Practices On Arboretum Pond

The IU men's hockey club team skates across a frozen pond in IU's arboretum to practice for an upcoming match.

If you’re wondering just how cold it is this week, this should give you an idea. The Indiana University men’s ice hockey club team is practicing outside for once.

Joe Stebbins is a sophomore on the team. He says when they noticed the pond in the middle of IU’s arboretum was frozen, they couldn’t pass up the chance to get on the ice.

“We walked out to the middle, felt great, and we brought out all the guys,” he says. “We started here yesterday and we hope to keep it going every week.”

Stebbins says it’s a first during his time at IU. The team is preparing to face Bradley University twice this weekend.
