An Orange County furniture factory that was supposed to shut down in February is staying open and may even expand.

The Orange County Economic Development Partnership announced Thursday it struck a deal with Indiana furniture manufacturer Jasper Group to buy the 1.2 million square foot Paoli Incorporated Building in Orleans.

The Orleans factory will be Jasper Group’s largest furniture manufacturing facility.

About 120 people still work at the facility. Those jobs were expected to disappear in February when HNI plans to close the facility, but that’s no longer the case.

Jasper Group plans to hire current production employees and potentially add even more when it begins production at the facility next year.
