Darryl Neher announced his intention to run for Bloomington’s District 5 City Council seat. Neher held the event in city hall attended by about 25 people. He is a senior lecturer at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. He is also co-chair for the High Education Committee for the Monroe County Community Schools Foundation.
Neher has been a resident of the fifth district for 12 years. He says the fifth district has a diverse population. He notes that citizens are continually searching for jobs to provide basic needs for their family. Neher says the main campaign promise he will make is that he will listen.
“Anybody in local government knows that the key to a successful local race is knocking on doors,” Neher said. “That’s where is starts first. Walking the district and knocking on the doors of people who live here and asking questions, and genuinely listening to what they have to say. I mean that’s the starting point.”
Neher says his other focuses include planning and zoning and the impact it has on citizens. He says he hopes to bring listening and research to the council.
