Museum Video To Star 1954 Milan Basketball Players

The members of the 1954 Milan championship team

The Milan ’54 Hoosiers Museum in Ripley County is receiving funding to create a video project that will interview members of Milan’s historic basketball team.

In 1954, Milan High School had an enrollment of only 161, according to the museum, but they won the Indiana state title.

The small town’s victory was later portrayed in the 1986 film “Hoosiers” which stared Gene Hackman.

Here’s a video from the championship game:

The museum’s video project, which  is being funded by the Indianapolis-based Efroymson Family Fund, will include segments with each surviving member of the ’54 team. It will them become part of a presentation that will serve as an introduction for museum visitors.
