Skillman says she is happy to be returning to her hometown of Bedford to begin her new career.

Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman will return home to Bedford when she takes over as the new CEO of economic development firm Radius Indiana.

The job came open following the death of previous CEO R.J. Reynolds. Radius works with businesses located in eight counties in South Central Indiana.

Skillman says she will continue working to make those companies globally competitive.

“My experience overseeing several sectors from a state government oversight and agriculture, and energy and tourism and I should mention defense development—all areas that are critically important to that region,” Skillman says.

Lawrence County Economic Growth Council Executive Director Gene McCracken says he expects Skillman to hit the ground running when she begins her new position.

“We’re excited about the opportunity that she brings with her because she has federal connections, she has of course, state connections and she knows everybody in the region.”

McCracken says Radius does a lot of work with the Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center but wants to continue future growth opportunities in the manufacturing sector.

Skillman says the opening of I-69, the Battery Innovation Center at Crane Technology Park, Vincennes University and the French Lick-West Baden Resort are some of the assets she will work to promote, along with attracting new business to the region.
