Judge: White Ineligible To Run For Office

Secretary of State Charlie White could be forced out of office if convicted on charges of theft and voter fraud.

Breaking news to report at this hour involving Secretary of State Charlie White. According to a judgment handed down from the Marion County Circuit Court, White was ineligible to run for office in 2010.

Judge Louis Rosenberg found evidence that White was not living at his stated address when he filed to run for office.

If this ruling stands, Democratic challenger Vop Osili is the winner of the election and will become Indiana’s Secretary of State.

The Indiana Recount Commission will be asking for an immediate stay of this ruling according to its spokesman A.J. Feeney-Ruiz. Attorney General Greg Zoeller’s office will file that motion. The Recount Commission says this ruling is unprecedented.

Since a state holiday began this afternoon, no courts or offices will be open until next week. Feeney-Ruiz says as of right now, Charlie White is still Secretary of State.

Official word is that Charlie White’s office will not comment on this ruling. The Indiana Democratic Party has sent a congratulatory letter to Osili.
