John Tilford says he thinks "regular citizens" should be in Congress.

Retired United States Army Reserve Colonel, John Tilford, from Bloomington is the third Democratic candidate to announce his intention to run for Congress in Indiana’s 9th District.

Tilford is not accepting campaign donations and is pledging to serve only one term if elected. He says there are many problems with the current makeup of Congress and he would represent the common man.

“I think that regular citizens should be in Congress,” he says. “If you look at the median, not the average, the median net worth of Congressmen now is well over a million dollars.  ”

Tilford faces retired Air Force Brigadier General, Jonathan George and Charlestown’s Robert Winningham in May’s primary election. Current 9th District, Rep. Republican Todd Young has confirmed his plans to run for reelection and will compete in November against the winner of the Democratic primary.
