Top Indiana University officials visited each of IU’s residential centers Wednesday, as the bulk of the new freshman class moved in to their dorms. IU Bloomington Provost Karen Hanson made the rounds with Dean of Students Richard McKaig. Hanson says the parents she’s talked to seem happy to be leaving their children in IU’s care, though she says she’s detected some understandable anxiety. Hanson says it’s important for parents to remember that incoming freshmen are entering adulthood.
Hanson says everyone she’s talked to has been grateful for the move-in assistance provided by Residential Programs and Services. IU president Michael McRobbie and his wife Laurie Burns-McRobbie were also out chatting with families during new student move-in day Wednesday. Activities on-hand for incoming students this week include CultureFest Thursday, and New Student Service day on Saturday.
