The Indiana University men’s soccer team is preparing to once again compete for the national soccer championship.

IU is headed to the College Cup after winning 3-2 over Michigan State last week.

Defender Grant Lillard says the team wouldn’t have made it this far without freshman goalie Trey Muse.

“Since day one Trey’s left a really good impression with the team and just with his past performances,” Lilard says, “his confidence is growing that much more.”

Lillard has been waiting his entire college career to make the college cup and he says he’s thrilled to compete as a senior.

“It’s the college cup and we’re really excited that we get the opportunity to play in it,” Lillard says. “It’s taken all four years for us to get there, so we’re looking to make the most of this opportunity,”

The Hoosiers are headed to their 19th College Cup appearance against number three North Carolina on Friday night in Philadelphia. They’ve won eight championships.
