An Indiana delegation is headed to India this week. Secretary of Commerce Mitch Roob will lead the state‘s first trade mission to India to establish partnerships with information technology, life sciences and new energy companies.
The delegation of business and academic leaders is scheduled to visit Mumbai and Hyderabad during the week-long trip. The U.S Department of Commerce reports Indiana companies exported more than $250 million worth of goods to India in 2010.
Indiana has hosted several delegations from India over the past few years including a November visit from Hyderabad mayor Banda Karthika Reddy, who traveled to Indianapolis to further strengthen the sister-city relationship she established with mayor Greg Ballard earlier in 2010.
In September, a delegation of 25 executives from the confederation of Indian industry traveled to Indiana to discuss commerce and trade opportunities with the state‘s business and community leaders.
