FBI Finds Child Porn Produced In Bloomington, 20+ Arrested

A Bloomington man is behind bars after one of the largest federal investigations in Indiana history led to the arrest of more than 20 individuals alleged to have participated in an international child pornography ring.

According to United States Attorney Joseph Hogsett, David R. Bostic entered a guilty plea Monday to the sexual exploitation of several Monroe County children between the ages of 2 months and 4 years. He also pleaded guilty to his involvement in a conspiracy in trafficking child pornography with people around the world. Bostic has been in police custody since November 17th, 2010.

Hogsett says it was inter-agency cooperation that led to the arrests.

“I think the FBI here in Indiana has really stepped up and prioritized,” he said, “…one of the most heinous violent crimes that can be imagined and that is crimes that are designed to exploit innocent children who under no circumstance can do anything to defend themselves.”

Indiana FBI Special Agent in Charge Michael Welch says his agency along with the Indiana State Police, the Kokomo Police Department and the Brownsburg Police Department worked in collaboration in one of the most important investigations in over 70 years.

“What you’ll find with this investigation,” he said, “is that it is one the most graphic, brutal type of child pornography that most would have ever encountered.”

The FBI is also working with international agents in Serbia, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Sweden to catch global participants in the distribution chain. According to Hogsett, Bostic manipulated the parents into trusting him and allowing him to get to know their children.

Bostic is facing 15-1,000 years in prison. All the children involved in the investigation are safe Hogsett said.
