MLK Day Celebration: Family friendly event geared toward elementary-aged youth that will feature African Storyteller Ms. Deborah Asante from the Arts for Learning Indiana. Sunday, Jan. 14 at 2 p.m.
Student Leadership Breakfast: W. Kamau Bell, sociopolitical comedian and host of the hit Emmy Award nominated CNN docu-series, United Shades of America, will deliver the keynote address at IU's 2018 Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Leadership Breakfast. Monday, Jan. 15 at 8:30 a.m.
MLK Day Write-In: Join with fellow community members to write to your elected representatives, and let state and national officials know what's important to you, their constituent. Monday Jan. 15 at 11 a.m.
MLK Day Teach-In: This event is geared toward teens and mature tweens, driven to explore social issues in relation to Dr. MLK Jr. And participate in a thoughtful dialogue. Monday, Jan. 15 at 12 p.m.
Unity Summit: This event is a group activity, discussing actions steps toward coalition building. Monday, Jan. 15 at 12:30 p.m.
MLK Day Inclusion Cookout: The NPHC (historically black) is working with PHA/IFC (predominantly white) on a day where we will eliminate color and make our campus a safe environment for all people regardless of race, sex, gender etc. Monday, Jan. 15 at 3:30 p.m.
Birthday Celebration: African American Choral Ensemble, Legacy Award Presentation, Keynote Speech by Rev. Harold Middlebrook, friend of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and active participant in nonviolent civic engagement efforts. Monday, Jan. 15: reception at 6 p.m., program begins at 7 p.m.
'A Seat at the Table' Celebration Dinner: Attendees will participate in a guided discussion with Community Educators and Resident Assistants. The event is ticketed. Monday, Jan. 15 at 6:30 p.m.
