South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg is among a list of Democrats the news website Politico has says met with former President Barack Obama in D.C., to discuss a potential 2020 bid for the presidency.

Mark Bode, Buttigieg’s director of communications, confirmed Buttigieg and Obama have met several times, most recently for an “informal, private conversation last fall.”

“The Mayor has appreciated President Obama’s interest in the South Bend region both during and since his presidency,” Bode said in a statement.

Other Democrats who have met with President Obama include Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren and former Vice President Joe Biden. Politico also reports Obama met with Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, who last year launched a nonprofit investment group in South Bend, with the help of Buttigieg.

According to Politico, during the meetings, Obama has offered advice for hopefuls on how to run for office while President Donald Trump is in the White House.
