Brooks, Reske Win In 5th District Primary

Reske (left) and Brooks (right) will face off in November.

Democrat Scott Reske and Republican Susan Brooks will face each other in the November Election to represent Indiana’s new 5th district. Reske says he will continue to focus on job creation

“As an engineer and a Marine Corp pilot, that’s what I specialize in, solving problems, whether jobs, saving social security and medicare, that’s what we are going to be focused on,” he says.

Former U.S. Attorney Brooks fought in a very close race with former U-S Representive David McIntosh. The race kept the public guessing who would take the nomination into late Tuesday evening.  Brooks says her children helped bring the younger voters out to support her.

“If you were out seeing the polls, we had a lot of young people and it is so important because this race and this election is about the next generation,” she says.

Indiana’s only Republican woman to serve in Congress was Cecil Hardin. In addition to Brooks, Jackie Walorski won a congressional nomination in the 2nd District.
