Body Found In Cave Is Spelunker Missing Since October

A man's body was found in one of the caves in Crawford County, Indiana.

Officials with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources say a body found inside a cave known as The Breathing Hole in the Harrison-Crawford State Forest has been confirmed as that of a caver who’s been missing more than four months.

Indiana conservation officer Terry Allen says evidence found at the scene suggests the corpse belongs to Kevin Eve, who was reported missing Oct. 1.

According to Crawford County Coroner Chris Brown, “the body found in the cave was that of 25 year old Kevin Eve. I confer with the pathologist that the cause of death was a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.”

Indiana conservation officer Jeffery Milner says the cave has a 154-foot drop near its entrance which spelunkers cannot repel down. Instead, one must climb down the wall, going through various passages before getting to the bottom.

Milner says the body was found a half mile from the bottom of that drop.
