Update: Area Schools Back To Normal After Lockdown

While opinions differ widely throughout the MCCSC, all parties seem to agree that the corporation is in need of stable long term leadership.

Binford and Rogers elementary schools are being released on time and bus transportation for Bloomington High School North and Tri-North students will be provided as normal, according to a letter sent to parents by the Monroe County Community School Corporation.

The four Bloomington schools were on lock-down this afternoon after a reported bank robbery at People’s State Bank on Bloomington’s east side.

According to Donna Zink in the Monroe County School Corporation’s Superintendent’s office, Binford and Rogers Elementary students were not allowed to leave the schools following the robbery as a standard precaution.

Reports from area residents are that Bloomington High School North is also on lock-down, as police are in the area searching for the suspected robber.

The following letter was sent to families in Hoosier Acres from the Monroe County Community School Corporation regarding the situation.

Attention Hoosier Acres families:

Due to a police emergency in the HOOSIER ACRES neighborhood, Hoosier Acres BHS North & Tri-North students were kept at their respective schools.  Parents may contact the school if they have not already heard from their student, but transportation will be provided now that the police have declared it safe to return them home.
