Alleged Purdue Shooter To Use Insanity Defense

Cody Cousins, 23, has been charged with murder in the shooting death of 21-year-old Purdue University student Andrew Boldt.

The 23-year-old Purdue University student accused of shooting a teaching assistant on campus earlier this year will use an insanity defense for his trial.

The court notice was filed on behalf of Cody Cousins, who is charged with fatally shooting and stabbing 21-year-old Andrew Boldt inside a campus classroom on the West Lafayette campus.

As we reported, Cousins told a judge at a hearing earlier this month that he is taking Depakote, a drug that is used to treat bipolar disorder, seizures, migraines and schizophrenia.

The defense also requested a change of venue.
