Recovery Center Puts Brakes On Greencastle Proposal

The Indiana Center for Recovery has scrapped plans to turn an abandoned Greencastle nursing home into a drug recovery center.

Greencastle Mayor Bill Dory says he received a letter from the center on Monday stating they were no longer pursuing a permit for the property.

A week ago, the city’s Board of Zoning Appeals debated for nearly five hours on whether a special permit could be given to greenlight the center.

Some parents voiced concerns over the proposed facility’s proximity to Tzouanakis Intermediate School.

The Indiana Center for Recovery currently operates one Indiana facility in Bloomington, and was not immediately available for comment.
