As severe storms move out of central Indiana, the tornado watch is being allowed to expire.

Storm reports are indicating strong winds are to blame for most of the damage. A trained spotter in Franklin reported horizontal rain with wind speeds of 45 MPH. Office building roof damage on the west side of Tipton in Hamilton County was also called in to the National Weather Service.
A trained spotter in Bloomington measured 60 MPH wind gusts. Hail was reported in Hamilton and Putnam Counties tonight as well.
Duke Energy is reporting more than 2,100 residents are without power in Hamilton County, 955 are without power in Lawrence County and 785 in Monroe County.
A number of tornado warnings were issued for southern Indiana, but no touch-downs have been confirmed. Amateur radio reports in Bedford indicate a possible funnel cloud was seen east of US 50 and SR 446 at 9:25 tonight.
6:45 P.M. UPDATE
The tornado watch has been expanded to include all of central and southern Indiana until midnight.

The severe thunderstorm watch has been replaced by a tornado watch in effect for Clay, Daviess, Greene, Knox, Martin, Owen, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, Vermillion and Vigo counties until 8:00 p.m. Primary threats include damaging wind gusts to 70 MPH and possible tornadoes.

4:40 P.M. UPDATE
National Weather Service forecasters are now calling for the line of strong to severe thunderstorms to sweep across central Indiana from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Strong winds with gusts of 50 MPH will continue through Friday behind the cold front. Rain and melting snow could lead to flooding problems.
A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 8:00 p.m. for west central Indiana. Primary threats include damaging wind gusts to 70 MPH and possible tornadoes.
Officials are also warning of patchy dense fog this afternoon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service say damaging straight line winds and flooding are possible this afternoon as a cold front moves through the state.
Showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon and quickly sweep across central Indiana between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. A wind advisory is in effect for tonight through 7:00 p.m. Friday due to possible 45 MPH wind gusts.
Rain combined with melting snow could lead to flooding problems.
