The Indiana University Hoosiers handily defeated the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers on Wednesday, 76-47.
Coming out of a very slow paced first half, the Hoosiers started off the second half leading the Cornhuskers 27-18. They would hold this lead for the rest of the game, earning the Hoosiers the victory.
Indiana's Cody Zeller once again was a main contributor for the Hoosiers, earning the team 16 points during the game. Also aiding the Hoosiers to victory were Oladipo and Watford, both with 13 points.
Nebraska's key player for the game was Dylan Talley, who earned the Cornhuskers 16 points.
Winning the tip off at the beginning of the game, the Hoosiers set a fast pace for the game with a quick score by Victor Oladipo. However, Nebraska was able to answer back by playing a tight man-to-man defense on the Hoosiers. This earned the Cornhuskers a lead over the No. 1 ranked team in the being of the first half. Nebraska would only be able to lead the Hoosiers at most by four points during their time in the lead.
The pace of the game quickly slowed down for both teams as the half continued. Trailing Nebraska, the Hoosiers found themselves struggling to drive the ball to the net due to Nebraska's tight defense. The Hoosiers were not able to reach double digits until almost ten minutes into the game.
Compared to the first half, the Hoosiers came out of the locker room looking like the team who played against Ohio State this past Sunday. Hoosier players Oladipo, Jordan Hulls and Christian Watford came out strong, earning Indiana a combined seven points within the first two minutes of the second half.
The Hoosiers proved their favorite spot on the court was once again the three-point line as Will Sheehey, Remy Abell and Hulls added to Indiana's three-point streak, sending Assembly Hall into cheers. With the momentum in the stadium increasing, Indiana increased their lead on the scoreboard, preventing Nebraska from coming within nine points of the Hoosiers for the rest of the game.
The Hoosiers were able to increase their defensive pressure on the Cornhuskers, causing them to turn over the ball 15 times during the game. Indiana turned over the ball only nine times. This intensity was also seen on the Hoosiers' offense who earned the team 36 rebounds during the game. Nebraska would only earn 21 rebounds.
After coming off of a two-game road trip, the Hoosiers continue their season with another home game this Saturday against long-time rivals, the Purdue University Boilermakers. Indiana ends their night with a record of 22-3 in conference and 10-2 in the Big Ten.
