The ensemble Anonymous 4 has worked with a variety of genres over their long history. Whether it’s the music of Hildegard von Bingen or early American composer William Billings, or anything in between, they have mastered it. In their most recent album, Secret Voices, the ensemble goes back to the root of their repertoire: Medieval music. They have chosen music to reflect the daily musical life at the convent known as “Las Huelgas.”
The music of the Codex Las Huelgas contains both secular and sacred pieces but most of it in praise of the Virgin Mary.
