A Recent Recorder Recording

Recorder player Nina Stern has been performing at various venues for a long time, and she just recorded her first solo CD in 2011, entitled Rose of the Compass. With her dedication to teaching grade-school children to play recorder and percussion through the program “S’Cool Sounds,” it’s no wonder she hasn’t had time to record. But Rose of the Compass reflects her personal preferences for music from all corners of medieval Europe as well as the Balkans and Middle East. While none of the music was originally meant for the recorder, this proves inconsequential to the overall artistry and talent displayed on the recording. Ms. Stern will also be performing this year at the Amherst Early Music Festival in New London, CT.
