Amy's Kitchen Recalls Products For Listeria Concerns

Amy's Kitchen Inc. has recalled nearly 74,000 cases of products containing spinach that could be contaminated with listeria.

The company discovered the spinach may be tainted with Listeria monocytogenes from an organic spinach supplier.

No illnesses have been linked with the recall, and Amy's voluntarily recalled the products out of "an abundance of caution."

Amy's is recalling lasagna, pizza, tofu scramble, brown rice and vegetables bowls, and enchilada verde, made between January 21, 2015 and March 4, 2015. (For a complete list, see Attachment A here.)

Symptoms of listeria infection in otherwise healthy adults includes high fever, headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria infection is particularly harmful to young children, elderly, pregnant women and those with compromised immune systems where infections can be serious or fatal.

Wegmans bagged organic spinach was also recalled for potential listeria contamination Monday, although the two spinach outbreaks are not connected.

Organic O'CoconutTM products have been recalled after a supplier informed the parent company, Nutiva, of the possibility of Salmonella this week as well.
