Join fellow WTIU members for a very special opportunity to make an animal connection with Tombi, an African elephant, at the Indianapolis Zoo!
For a membership contribution of $360, you will receive admission for two WTIU members to the Indianapolis Zoo, plus two passes for behind-the-scenes access to the African Elephant Barn on Sunday, September 21 at 10:30 a.m. Participants will meet Fred and Beth Cate — great friends of WTIU and special friends of Tombi — to observe the elephant’s bathing, feeding and painting session. Then stay for the day and explore all of the other amazing animals at the Zoo. Members will also receive the Love, Life and Elephants: An African Love Story paperback book.

Goose Pond Fish and Wildlife Area, Linton, Indiana
Locally known as the Goose Pond and Bee Hunter Marsh, this 8,034-acre State Fish and Wildlife Area is located along SR 59 just south of Linton. Since 2005, it has grown to become one of the largest and most successful wetland restoration projects in the United States — and home to many migrating bird species, attested by the impressive Sandhill Crane fly-in each spring.
For a membership contribution of $150, you will receive round-trip transportation for two WTIU members to and from Goose Pond Fish and Wildlife Area on Saturday, February 28, 2015 (includes guided tours), a property bird list for Goose Pond, and the Peterson Field Guide to Birds of North America – this new volume includes almost three hours of video podcasts to make bird watching even easier. Spectacular photo and bird-watching opportunities will be included in the 90-minute walking levee tour led by Goose Pond experts.
Snacks and bottled water are provided; lunch is not. This trip will take place rain or shine, and is NOT intended for members with restricted mobility.

Bring a guest and journey back in time with the French Lick Scenic Railway. Take a relaxing ride aboard historic railroad cars on a 90-minute trip through the Hoosier National Forest, a 2200 foot tunnel, and beautiful Orange County countryside!
For a membership contribution of $120, you will receive two tickets for the French Lick Scenic Railway located in picturesque southern Indiana. Ride aboard historic pieces of rail equipment on a 1 and 3/4 hour, 20 mile round trip. While on your journey, the train will pass through portions of the Hoosier National Forest, the 2200 foot Burton Tunnel, and past impressive limestone rock cuts. Members will also receive the Guide to North America’s Tourist Railways and Museums 3rd Edition paperback book.
