Meet The Board Behind Tuition Increases

In Indiana, there is a powerful 14 member panel that’s responsible for recommending tuition whose members you may not have heard of. The commission is not officially political, but as gubernatorial appointees, they often show loyalty to Republican Governor Mitch Daniels, many times with political contributions.

Since 2007, the cost of attending a 4-year college has increased by more than 16 percent, a figure attributed to a host of factors like cuts to state funding, a rough economy and an increase in fixed cost.

Meet the members of the board, and see their latest state contributions, with our simple yearbook-like feature.
